Definition And Functions of Water Flow Switch

water flow switch

The water flow switch is critical in today’s automated systems. Sensors can be easily added to more significant electrical devices because they are small, cheap, and reliable. Sensors of all kinds can now be bought on the market. Electronic and electrical engineers have used sensors to solve a wide range of problems, such as figuring out how much ambient light there is, how hot a furnace is, and how much humidity there is. A water flow sensor is a great way to determine how quickly a liquid moves.

What Is a Water Flow Switch?

Water is used by many big businesses, homes, and industrial plants. In this case, the public water system is used to meet this need. To keep track of how much water is being given and used, it is essential to record the flow rate of water. Water Flow Switches monitor how much water is moving through the pipes.

Flow sensors are put where water comes from or in the pipes that carry it to measure water flow. Liters per hour and cubic meters are the units used to calculate how much water is moving at a given time.

The Theorem of Operation:

A plastic valve with a hole is used to measure how much water is moving. We use a water rotor and a hall effect sensor to keep an eye on how much water is moving through the pipes in the ground.

Water flows through a valve, and the rotor turns because of this. A pulse signal is sent out due to this change in the hall effect sensor. As a result, the flow rate of water can be found out.

The Hall effect is the main thing that makes this  Water Flow Switch work. According to this idea, a voltage difference is caused by the rotor’s spinning in this sensor. This voltage difference causes the electric current to run in the opposite direction.

When the water moves, the fan moves, turning the rotor and making electricity. The hall effect sensor reads this voltage and shows it on the LCD screen.

Hot, cold, and warm water can also be used with the flow sensor, but it can also be used with water that is not clean. These sensors come in different flow rates and sizes.

Arduino-compatible microcontrollers like these can be used to talk to these sensors. For this project, you need an Arduino microcontroller board, a water flow sensor, a 162 LCD, and Breadboard connection wires to make it work. It could be put in the pipe or at the inlet. A black wire that goes to the ground and a yellow wire that goes to the Hall effect sensor’s output must be used to connect. 5V to 18V DC is needed for the power source.

Water Flow Sensors: How They Help

Water Flow Switch may tell how fast or how far water moves to determine how much water is moving.

Water flow sensors come in a wide range of sizes and ways to measure how much water is moving. Paddlewheel sensors are a cheap way to measure water flow. They are also ubiquitous. This filter can be used with water-like liquids.

Conclusion

A positive displacement flow meter is the only choice when there isn’t a straight intake pipe nearby. It’s also possible to use this water flow sensor with viscous liquids, like oil or water. It is used to measure contaminated water and wastewater flow, which may be conductive. Ultrasonic flow meters are used for sewage water, slurry, and other dirty liquids. The water flow switch sends out a pulse every time the rotor turns. A watertight seal protects the hall effect sensor inside the gadget, ensuring that it will work long.
