When you decide to get in shape and start exercising, you will want to do all you can to improve your physical performance. While you may be wanting to take supplements to help improve your performance while exercising, you may actually be placing yourself at greater risk of being injured while you are lifting your weights, jogging, or whatever other activities are included in your exercise routine. As to how the increased risk of injury can occur, much of it has to do with dehydration. Since many supplements require that you increase your fluid intake while taking them, failing to realize this could leave you severely dehydrated during your exercise sessions, possibly placing you in a life-threatening situation.

Since there are pros and cons associated with taking supplements as you begin an exercise program, it is best to speak to your healthcare provider before making your decision. In doing so, you will be able to weigh the benefits versus the risks to determine if supplements are really necessary.
