What do you need to carry for Kedarnath Yatra?

It is believed that the Kedarnath temple is among the holiest places for Hindus. Each year, millions of Hindus visit the Kedarnath Dham, located at an elevation of over 2,000 feet in Uttarakhand. The site is a symbol of peace and is considered sacred by many due to it being considered to be the home of Lord Shiva, who is the one who slays Evil and is among the Gods of Trimurti. Nature has also bestowed a variety of kinds of beauty to the area of Kedarnath. Many nature enthusiasts from various areas visit the splendor of Kedarnath. However, before embarking on your journey on the Kedarnath Yatra, there are certain things each visitor must remember.

  • Warm clothing: Kedarnath gets cold weather all year round, be it the season is winter or summer. It is warm inside the vehicle, and light clothing is used when you travel to Kedarnath yatra. However, once you step out of the vehicle, warmer clothes will be needed to keep away the cold wind of the Himalayas. Take the warmest scarf, socks, jacket, and a hat to keep you warm.
  • Medicines: As we are aware that Kedarnath is a temple in India. Kedarnath temple is situated at an altitude of 3587 meters above sea level. This means that you’re more likely to catch the flu and get an illness known as fever. Also, make sure you have medications for your cold and fever. Also, bring medicines for gastrointestinal problems, vomiting as well as other gastrointestinal disorders. This will help you during the Kedarnath Yatra and prevent you from being dependent on other people.
  • Pick the correct footwear: We suggest wearing hiking boots to walk to Kedarnath temple since you’ll walk for about 18 kilometers, and it will take you 9 hours to reach the temple. Select a pair of footwear that is comfortable, lightweight, and non-slip and can assist you when walking through the snow. If you regularly hike, this would be an investment worth it.
  • Lightweight luggage: If you are just traveling to Kedarnath to take darshan and then return home, take a small bag. Since you will be walking many miles during the Kedarnath yatra, if you take too much extra baggage and other items, you will not be able to make an enjoyable journey. Therefore, only carry what is essential.
